Snow continues to fall over highways and communities south of Fort McMurray, with snowfall totals of 30 - 50 cm expected.

An additional 2 to 4 cm of snow is forecast overnight, with heavier snow bands potentially bringing locally higher amounts. Light flurries will continue into Saturday.

Gusty winds will taper off this evening, improving visibility in blowing snow.

Road closures are possible.

Non-essential travel should be avoided. Take frequent breaks and avoid strain when clearing snow. Keep roofs clear to avoid the danger of heavy snow loads. If you become stranded, protect yourself by staying in your vehicle.
