Privacy Policy
Last updated: April 5, 2026
MeteoAlerts is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and what choices you have.
What we collect
We collect minimal personal data:
- Server logs: IP address, user-agent, requested pages, timestamps. Kept for 30 days for security and debugging, then automatically deleted.
- Language preference: stored in a cookie to remember your chosen interface language.
- Theme preference: stored in your browser's localStorage (never sent to our server).
We do not collect names, email addresses, account information, location data, or any personally identifiable information.
Cookies
We use a minimum number of first-party cookies, strictly for functionality:
lang— remembers your language preference (expires in 1 year)
We do not use tracking cookies, analytics cookies, or advertising cookies by default.
Third-party services
To display maps, we load tiles from CARTO and OpenStreetMap. When map tiles load, your IP address is visible to these services, subject to their privacy policies.
Weather alert data is fetched by our servers directly from meteorological agencies — this happens server-side and does not involve your browser.
Your rights
Under GDPR and similar regulations, you have the right to:
- Request a copy of any data we hold about you
- Request deletion of your data
- Object to our processing of your data
Since we collect almost no personal data, these requests will typically result in us confirming we have nothing to delete.
