The National Weather Service in Springfield has issued a

* Tornado Warning for...
Northeastern Newton County in southwestern Missouri...
Western Lawrence County in southwestern Missouri...
Jasper County in southwestern Missouri...
Southwestern Dade County in southwestern Missouri...

* Until 1130 PM CDT.

* At 1041 PM CDT, a severe thunderstorm capable of producing a
tornado was located over Carterville, or near Joplin, moving east
at 45 mph.

HAZARD...Tornado and tennis ball size hail.

SOURCE...Radar indicated rotation.

IMPACT...Flying debris will be dangerous to those caught without
shelter. Mobile homes will be damaged or destroyed.
Damage to roofs, windows, and vehicles will occur. Tree
damage is likely.

* Locations impacted include...
Joplin, Carthage, Webb City, Monett, Carl Junction, Oronogo,
Carterville, Duquesne, Sarcoxie, Pierce City, Duenweg, Lockwood,
Jasper, Diamond, Airport Drive, Leawood, Silver Creek, Alba,
Purcell, and Shoal Creek Drive.

This includes Interstate 44 between mile markers 6 and 39.

Recommandations

TAKE COVER NOW! Move to a basement or an interior room on the lowest
floor of a sturdy building. Avoid windows. If you are outdoors, in a
mobile home, or in a vehicle, move to the closest substantial shelter
and protect yourself from flying debris.
