* WHAT...Large breaking waves of 3 to 6 feet with sets up to 8
feet, highest at south and southwest-facing beaches. Strong
and dangerous rip and longshore currents. Minor coastal
flooding from a combination of high surf and high astronomical
tides during the evenings.
* WHERE...Beaches of Orange and San Diego Counties.
* WHEN...For the Coastal Flood Advisory, until 11 PM PDT
Wednesday. For the High Surf Advisory, until 11 PM PDT this
evening.
* IMPACTS...Flooding of lots, parks, and roads with isolated
road closures expected. Dangerous swimming and surfing
conditions and beach erosion.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...While surf diminishes gradually into
Wednesday, the high astronomical tides linger into mid-week
which could continue to bring minor coastal flooding during
evening high tides. Predicted higher high tides: Newport Beach:
7.0 feet at 7:59 PM. La Jolla: 6.9 feet at 7:54 PM.

closed. Do not drive around barricades or through water of
unknown depth. Take the necessary actions to protect flood-prone
property.
Inexperienced swimmers should remain out of the water due to
dangerous surf conditions.
