The National Weather Service in New Orleans has issued a

* Special Marine Warning for...
Coastal Waters from Stake Island LA to Southwest Pass of the
Mississippi River from 20 to 60 nm...

* Until 630 AM CDT.

* At 539 AM CDT, a cluster of severe thunderstorms capable of
producing waterspouts was located 55 nm southeast of Southwest Pass
Of the Mississippi River, moving east at 35 knots.

HAZARD...Waterspouts, wind gusts to 40 knots, and large hail.

SOURCE...Radar.

IMPACT...Waterspouts can quickly form and capsize boats...damage
vessels and oil rigs...and create suddenly higher waves.
Small craft could be damaged in briefly higher winds and
suddenly higher waves. Large hail could result in injury
and damage to boats...vessels and oil rigs.

* The cluster of severe thunderstorms will remain over mainly open
waters.
