...RED FLAG WARNING IN EFFECT TODAY FROM 11 AM UNTIL 8PM MDT FOR
THE NORTHEAST HIGHLANDS AND NORTHEAST PLAINS DUE TO STRONG WINDS
AND LOW HUMIDITY...
.Gusty south-southwest winds return to the northeast corner of
New Mexico late this morning into this afternoon. Winds of 20 to
30 mph with peak gusts of 35 to 45 mph are expected. Up to 9 hours
of critical fire weather conditions may occur in the far
northeastern corner of the state where afternoon humidity will
drop down to around 10 percent. Any new fire starts will be able
to spread rapidly.
* AREA AND TIMING...Northeast Plains (Zone 104) and Northeast
Highlands (Zone 123) today from 11 AM until 8 PM MDT.
* 20 FOOT WINDS...South to southwest winds 20 to 30 mph with
gusts up to 45 mph.
* RELATIVE HUMIDITY...Minimum values 10 to 13 percent.
* IMPACTS...Any fires that develop will likely spread rapidly.
Outdoor burning is not recommended
