AND EAST OF I-25, AND ALSO OVER WEST CENTRAL ZONES, DUE TO STRONG
WIND AND LOW HUMIDITY...
.With multiple fires ongoing across eastern New Mexico, southwest
winds will generally gust up to 35 mph today while humidities
plummet between 10 and 15 percent. On Sunday, southwest winds
will peak from 50 to around 60 mph over a larger portion of the
area with continued very low humidity. In addition, there will be
a slight chance of dry lightning on Sunday afternoon from virga
showers along I-40 over central and western NM, and also along
I-25 north of I-40 to the CO border.
The National Weather Service in Albuquerque has issued a Fire
Weather Watch...which is in effect from Sunday afternoon through
Sunday evening.
* AREA AND TIMING...West Central Mountains, Basin, and Range
(Zones 105 and 109) Sunday from noon to 8 PM MDT.
* 20 FOOT WINDS...Southwest at 25 to 40 mph with occasional
gusts of 45 to 60 mph with the highest speeds over the
mountains.
* RELATIVE HUMIDITY...Minimum values of 11 to 20 percent, except
for higher values in the Chuska Mountains.
* IMPACTS...Any fires that develop will likely spread rapidly.
Outdoor burning is not recommended.
