...The Flood Warning continues for the following rivers in
Illinois...

Kaskaskia River at Vandalia.

River forecasts are based on observed precipitation and forecast
precipitation for the next 24 hours.

* WHAT...Major flooding is occurring and major flooding is forecast.
This approaches the flood of record.

* WHERE...Kaskaskia River at Vandalia.

* WHEN...Until Saturday evening.

* IMPACTS...At 27.1 feet, At this height about 75% of County Road
2000 between US 51 and the bridge over the Kaskaskia River is
flooded.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 6:30 AM CDT Wednesday the stage was 26.5 feet.
- Recent Activity...The maximum river stage in the 24 hours ending
at 6:30 AM CDT Wednesday was 26.5 feet.
- Forecast...The river is expected to rise to a crest of 26.8 feet
this afternoon. It will then fall below flood stage Friday
afternoon.
- Flood stage is 18.0 feet.
- Flood History...This crest compares to a previous crest of 26.7
feet on 12/12/1985.

Recommendations

Motorists should not attempt to drive around barricades or drive cars
through flooded areas.
