Significant rainfall is expected.

Locations: Guysborough County and most of Cape Breton Island.

Potential rainfall: 30 to 50 mm, possibly more in heaviest showers.

Time span: beginning tonight, continuing until Friday night.

Remarks: An approaching low pressure system is expected to bring a period of intense rainfall. Thundershowers may develop over some areas, producing locally heavier rainfall. There is some uncertainty as to where the highest rainfall amounts will occur, but the potential exists for significant totals over some locations.

Rainfall warnings may be required as this event draws nearer.

Localized ponding/pooling may occur in low-lying areas or locations with poor drainage. Creeks and smaller rivers may rise quickly and overflow their banks.
