Details

...RED FLAG WARNING FOR MOST OF WESTERN AND CENTRAL NORTH
DAKOTA...

.Warm and dry conditions are expected across North Dakota today
ahead of an approaching cold front. The combination of strong
westerly winds of 20 to 30 mph with gusts to 45 mph, and low
relative humidities of 15 to 25 percent, will produce critical
fire weather conditions over western and central North Dakota
along and north of the I-94 corridor. Near critical fire weather
conditions are expected south of the Red Flag Warning where winds
are not forecast to be as strong.

The National Weather Service in Bismarck has issued a Red Flag
Warning for wind and low relative humidity, which is in effect
from 11 AM CDT /10 AM MDT/ this morning to 9 PM CDT /8 PM MDT/
this evening.

* WINDS...West 20 to 25 mph with gusts up to 40 mph.

* RELATIVE HUMIDITY...As low as 15 percent.

* AFFECTED AREA...Portions of central North Dakota along along the
I-94 corridor.

* IMPACTS...Any fires that ignite will spread rapidly and become
difficult to control or suppress.

Recommendations

A Red Flag Warning means that critical fire weather conditions
are either occurring now, or will shortly. A combination of
strong winds, low relative humidity, and warm temperatures can
contribute to extreme fire behavior.
