AFTERNOON ACROSS PORTIONS OF SOUTH CENTRAL NEBRASKA...

..THE FIRE WEATHER WATCH FOR TUESDAY BETWEEN NOON AND 9PM HAS
BEEN UPGRADED TO A RED FLAG WARNING FOR WIND AND LOW RELATIVE
HUMIDITY...

The National Weather Service in Hastings has issued a Red Flag
Warning for wind and low relative humidity, which is in effect
from noon to 9 PM CDT Tuesday. The Fire Weather Watch is no
longer in effect.

* WINDS...Northerly winds between 15 to 20 mph will gust as high
as 30 to 35 mph.

* RELATIVE HUMIDITY...As low as 15 to 20 percent.

* IMPACTS...Any fire that develops will spread quickly. Outdoor
burning is not recommended.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...South Central Nebraska and North Central
Kansas Locations outside of the warning will still be expected
to reach elevated to near-critical fire weather conditions.

Recommendations

A Red Flag Warning means that critical fire weather conditions
are either occurring now, or will shortly. A combination of
strong winds, low relative humidity, and warm temperatures can
contribute to extreme fire behavior.
