Details

Poor visibility in snow and blowing snow is expected in some locations.

Where: Dempster Highway near the Richardson Mountains

When: Now through this evening.

Discussion:
An area of low pressure over the southern Yukon is leading to periods of flurries and strong easterly winds over portions of the Dempster Highway near the Richardson Mountains.

The combination of fresh snowfall and strong winds will reduce visibility at times, resulting in hazardous travel conditions.

Winds are expected to diminish later this evening with improving travel conditions thereafter.

Travel will likely be hazardous due to near-zero visibility.

Protect yourself from wind, cold and disorientation by staying sheltered, indoors or with your vehicle.

Blowing snow advisories are issued when widespread poor visibility in blowing snow is expected.
