Details
Warm temperatures, low humidity and breezy southwest winds will
lead to critical fire weather conditions over portions of the
area this afternoon. The strongest of the winds are forecast to
occur during the mid afternoon hours. Breezier winds are forecast
to occur Monday along with lower humidity values. Confidence is
high enough to issue a Red Flag Warning for Greeley, Wichita,
Logan and Gove counties while the Fire Weather Watch has been
expanded into Sheridan, Graham and Norton counties.
The National Weather Service in Goodland has issued a Red Flag
Warning for wind and low relative humidity, which is in effect
from noon to 9 PM CDT Monday.
* AFFECTED AREA...Fire Weather Zone 029 Gove.
* TIMING...From noon to 9 PM CDT Monday.
* WINDS...Southwest 15 to 25 mph with gusts up to 40 mph.
* RELATIVE HUMIDITY...As low as 10 percent.
* IMPACTS...Unpredictable fire behavior. Any fires that develop
may rapidly grow and spread out of control.
Recommendations
Comply with burn bans and regulations. Avoid driving on dry grass
or brush. Maintain vehicle brakes and tires and secure tow chains
to avoid dragging. Never toss lit cigarettes onto the ground.
