.WATCHES/WARNINGS...
A Typhoon Warning continues for Rota, Tinian, and Saipan.
A Tropical Storm Warning and a Typhoon Watch continue for Guam.
A Flood Watch is in effect for all of Guam and the Northern
Marianas. Please listen closely for any Flash Flood Warnings that
might be in effect for your area.

.STORM INFORMATION...
At 700 AM ChST, the center of Super Typhoon Sinlaku (04W) was
located near latitude 11.9N and longitude 149.1E. This was about 310
miles east-southeast of Guam. Storm motion was northwest, 305
degrees, at 9 mph. Storm intensity was 180 mph.
.SITUATION OVERVIEW...
Super Typhoon Sinlaku (04W) continues to move northwest toward
the Marianas and away from Chuuk State. Periods of intense
showers, thunderstorms, and winds continue for the far outer
islands of northwest Chuuk, primarily to Ulul with some heavy
shower bands still seen over and just west of Fananu. The most
recent storm track produced by the Joint Typhoon Warning Center
(JTWC) has shown a slight southward shift in the storm path during
its passage toward the Marianas, still maintaining a track north
of Rota and near or over Tinian and Saipan. Sinlaku is expected to
gradually weaken the next few days, but still expected to cross the
Marianas as a category 4 or 5 typhoon.
Recommendations
The window of time to complete preparations for the protection of
life and property will be closing later today. If evacuating to a
public shelter, leave as soon as possible. Guard against being stuck
out on roadways when dangerous winds and heavy rains arrive. Again,
do not stay in a metal roof or container home. Items to bring to a
shelter include a first aid kit, medicines and prescriptions, baby
food and diapers, games and books, toiletries, a battery powered
radio, a cell phone, flashlights with extra batteries, a blanket or
sleeping bag for each person, personal identification, copies of key
papers such as insurance policies, available cash and credit cards.
Remember, pets are not allowed in most public shelters, so check
ahead with your intended shelter.
Regarding your home or business, finish covering all windows and
doors with shutters or plywood. Move patio furniture and other loose
objects indoors. Brace all exterior doors.
If staying in a home, turn the refrigerator to maximum cold and keep
it closed. Turn off propane tanks and unplug small appliances. Fill
the bathtub with water in case the tap water becomes unavailable
after the storm. This is for cleaning and flushing purposes. Do not
drink it.
Stay indoors during heavy rain and windy conditions associated with
Super Typhoon Sinlaku (04W). Heed the advice of your local emergency
managers and officials, and continue to monitor forecasts by your
local National Weather Service office in Tiyan, Guam. Remain in a
sturdy shelter until the all clear is given.

Fresh northeasterlies are expected to begin increasing tonight, with
tropical storm force winds possible late morning or early afternoon
on Tuesday, maintaining these conditions for several days after if
Sinlaku continues on its accelerated northward trek after exiting the
Marianas in the second half of the week.
.COASTAL INUNDATION AND SURF INFORMATION...
Seas of 20 to 30 feet remain possible, with dangerous surf and
significant coastal inundation and beach erosion possible.
.OTHER STORM EFFECTS...
Heavy, intense rainfall with TY Sinlaku is likely for much of the
week, with rainfall amounts upwards of 15 to 25 inches near the
center, as the system crosses the Marianas. The exact track of
Sinlaku will determine where the heaviest rainfall will set up across
the islands.
Stay indoors during heavy rain and windy conditions associated with

Tropical Storm force winds continue at Ulul, as Sinlaku continues to
move away to the northwest. Damaging southwest to south winds around
39 mph are expected to persist through mid-day, with winds
becoming more south and decreasing through the day as Sinlaku
continues to move away toward the Marianas.
.COASTAL INUNDATION AND SURF INFORMATION...
Seas of 10 to 14 feet remain possible, with dangerous surf and
significant coastal inundation and beach erosion expected.
.OTHER STORM EFFECTS...
Another 2 to 4 inches of additional rainfall is possible within
the heavy bands of showers south of Sinlaku as the center of STY
Sinlaku continues moving northwest towards the Marianas.
