The Typhoon Warning has been cancelled for the island of Rota
and adjacent coastal waters.

This local statement provides important information and
recommended actions for people in the Northern Marianas.
.WATCHES/WARNINGS...
A Typhoon Warning continues for Tinian and Saipan and their adjacent
coastal waters, Alamagan, Pagan, and Agrihan.
Although tropical cyclone watches or warnings are not in effect
for Rota...possible impacts from related hazards are still a
concern.

.STORM INFORMATION...
At 2 AM ChST...the center of Typhoon Sinlaku (04W) was located
near latitude 18.7N...longitude 144.9E. This was about 360 miles
north of Guam. Storm motion was north-northeast, 20 degrees, at
9 mph. Storm intensity was 105 mph.
.SITUATION OVERVIEW...
The eye of Typhoon Sinlaku (04W) is moving north-northeast and has
picked up forward speed since last night, moving at 9 mph. The eye is
currently west of Agrihan, well north-northwest of Tinian and
Saipan. With Sinlaku continuing to push northward, the wind field has
moved north of Rota. As Sinlaku moves through the northern CNMI this
morning, it is forecast to curve further to the northeast, passing
west, then north of Agrihan through this afternoon.
Recommendations
People should remain in a designated shelter or in a sturdy and
reinforced concrete building to ride out the storm as tropical storm
force winds are occurring at Tinian, and Saipan. Due to the size of
the storm, the latest forecast has tropical storm force winds
continuing over northern Tinian waters over the next few hours this
morning, and through the morning hours today for Saipan. Even when
winds start to decrease, remain indoors until the "all clear" is
given. Strong to tropical storm force gusts remain a possibility for
the next day or two, especially with any passing shower.
Damage to remaining metal roof homes remains possible.
Electricity and water will remain unavailable for days and perhaps
weeks after the storm passes. Most trees will be snapped or
uprooted. Fallen trees may cut off residential areas for days to
weeks.

southwesterly tropical storm force winds around 65 mph are expected
this morning with typhoon winds around 75 mph possible as Sinlaku
passes to the northwest. The size of the storm and overall storm
motion will maintain southwest tropical storm winds through this
afternoon as Sinlaku continues on its accelerated northward trek
after exiting the Marianas later in the week.

Seas of 20 to 25 feet remain possible, with dangerous surf and
significant coastal inundation and beach erosion possible.
