...CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER CONDITIONS THIS AFTERNOON...

The National Weather Service in North Platte has issued a Red
Flag Warning for low humidity and gusty northwest winds, which is
in effect from noon today to 8 PM CDT this evening.

* AFFECTED AREA...Fire Weather Zone 208 Niobrara Valley/Fort
Niobrara NWR/Samuel R McKelvie National Forest.

* TIMING...Saturday, Noon CT / 11 AM MT to 8 PM CT / 7 PM MT.

* WINDS...Northwest 15 to 25 mph with gusts up to 40 mph.

* RELATIVE HUMIDITY...As low as 20 percent.

* TEMPERATURES...Highs this afternoon in the lower to mid 50s.

* LIGHTNING...None expected.

* IMPACTS...Any fire starts will spread rapidly and be difficult
to control.

Recommendations

A Red Flag Warning means that critical fire weather conditions
are either occurring now, or will shortly. A combination of
strong winds, low relative humidity, and warm temperatures can
contribute to extreme fire behavior.
