AND EAST OF I-25, AND ALSO OVER WEST CENTRAL ZONES, DUE TO STRONG
WIND AND LOW HUMIDITY...
.With multiple fires ongoing across eastern New Mexico, southwest
winds will generally gust up to 35 mph today while humidities
plummet between 10 and 15 percent. On Sunday, southwest winds
will peak from 50 to around 60 mph over a larger portion of the
area with continued very low humidity. In addition, there will be
a slight chance of dry lightning on Sunday afternoon from virga
showers along I-40 over central and western New Mexico, and also
along I- 25 north of I-40 to the Colorado border.
* AREA AND TIMING...Rio Grande Valley (Zone 106), Sandia and
Manzano Mountains (Zone 124), West Central Mountains, Basin,
and Range (Zones 105 and 109) Sunday from noon to 8 PM MDT.
* 20 FOOT WINDS...Southwest at 25 to 40 mph with gusts of 50 to 60
mph. The strongest gusts will be over the mountains.
* RELATIVE HUMIDITY...Minimum values of 10 to 15 percent, except
up to 20 percent along the continental divide, and over 20
percent in the Chuska Mountains.
* IMPACTS...Any fires that develop will likely spread rapidly.
Outdoor burning is not recommended.
