...MARGINALLY CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER CONDITIONS FOR THE SACRAMENTO
AND CAPITAN MOUNTAINS THIS AFTERNOON...

.An upper level jet will remain anchored over New Mexico today in
the wake of yesterday's system. This will keep winds breezy with
20-foot speeds topping out around 20 MPH in the Sacramento and
Capitan Mountains along with gusts 35-40 MPH. These wind speeds
will combine with afternoon relative humidity values in the lower
and mid teens to create marginally critical fire weather
conditions. Fuels remain dry, around the 90th percentile, along
with widespread tree mortality and beetle die back.

* AFFECTED AREA...Fire Weather Zone 113 Capitan and Sacramento
Mountains/Lincoln NF/LNZ.

* TIMING...winds increasing after 10 am, and peaking in middle
to late afternoon.

* WINDS...West 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 50 mph.

* RELATIVE HUMIDITY...As low as 9 percent.

* TEMPERATURES...Up to 72.

* EXPERIMENTAL RFTI...3 to 4, Marginally critical.

* IMPACTS...any fires that develop will likely spread rapidly.

Recommendations

A Red Flag Warning means that critical fire weather conditions
are either occurring now, or will shortly. A combination of
strong winds, low relative humidity, and warm temperatures can
contribute to extreme fire behavior.
