...RED FLAG WARNING TODAY FOR WESTERN AND MUCH OF CENTRAL NORTH
DAKOTA, AND FIRE WEATHER WATCH FOR ALL OF WESTERN AND CENTRAL
NORTH DAKOTA THURSDAY THROUGH FRIDAY...
.A Red Flag Warning has been issued today for western and
much of central North Dakota. Critical fire weather conditions
will return today due to southeasterly winds of 20 to 30 mph with
gusts up to 45 mph. Minimum relative humidity is forecast to drop
down as low as 15 percent. Any fires that ignite will spread
rapidly and become difficult to control. Stronger winds and
continued low relative humidity are then expected for Thursday
and Friday across all of western through central North Dakota,
including the James River Valley. Therefore, a Fire Weather Watch
has been issued Thursday through Friday as well.
The National Weather Service in Bismarck has issued a Red Flag
Warning for wind and low relative humidity, which is in effect
from 11 AM CDT /10 AM MDT/ this morning to 10 PM CDT /9 PM MDT/
this evening. A Fire Weather Watch has also been issued. This
Fire Weather Watch for wind and low relative humidity is in
effect from Thursday morning through Friday evening.
* WINDS...Southeast 20 to 25 mph with gusts up to 35 mph today.
* RELATIVE HUMIDITY...As low as 15 percent.
* AFFECTED AREA...Renville, Ward, Mercer, Oliver, McLean, and
Morton counties.
* IMPACTS...Any fires that ignite will spread rapidly and become
difficult to control or suppress.
