The National Weather Service in Flagstaff has extended the
* Flash Flood Warning for...
Gila County in east central Arizona...
* Until 1100 PM MST.
* At 620 PM MST, Doppler radar indicated that the heavy rain had
ended over the Fossil Creek area. However, flash flooding remains a
threat from earlier thunderstorms producing heavy rain upstream of
Fossil Creek and Hardscrabble Creek near Strawberry. Between 2 and
4 inches of rain have fallen. Flooding impacts will continue, but
no additional rainfall is expected. Flash flooding is ongoing or
expected to begin shortly.
HAZARD...Life threatening flash flooding. Thunderstorms producing
flash flooding.
SOURCE...Radar indicated.
IMPACT...Life threatening flash flooding of creeks and streams, and
normally dry washes.

The Toilet Bowl, Fossil Creek Waterfall, Fossil Creek Day Use Area,
Strawberry and Fossil Springs Wilderness.

All swimming holes and waterfalls on Fossil Creek and Fossil Creek
Dam "The Toilet Bowl".

Flooding of washes and creeks will occur, some dirt roads will become
muddy and impassable. Paved roads and underpasses could become
flooded as well.
Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.
Stay away or be swept away! The banks of creeks and washes are
unstable and unsafe during any flooding event.
Get out of washes and creeks if you are camping or hiking! Flooding
is occurring or imminent and will inundate creeks and washes.
