Typhoon Warning Center (JTWC) has shifted slightly south but
continues to have the the center of Sinlaku passing near or over
Tinian and Saipan. While Sinlaku is forecasted to gradually weaken
the next few days, it is expected to cross the Marianas near or over
Tinian and Saipan as a Category 4 or 5 typhoon.

Recommendations

People should be in a designated shelter or in a sturdy and
reinforced concrete building to ride out the storm as tropical storm
force winds are occurring and will be increasing through the day. Due
to the size of the storm, tropical storm force winds are expected to
continue through Wednesday night and into Thursday morning for Rota
and Thursday evening for Tinian and Saipan. While recent forecast
tracks continue to favor the center of Sinlaku passing near or over
Tinian and Saipan. Typhoon force winds of 74 mph or greater are
still possible for Rota late today and tonight. Tinian and Saipan
should prepare for the potential for extensive damage, especially to
non- concrete roofs and building.

If staying in a home, turn the refrigerator to maximum cold and keep
it closed. Turn off propane tanks and unplug small appliances. Fill
the bathtub with water in case the tap water becomes unavailable
after the storm. This is for cleaning and flushing purposes. Do not
drink it.
