...CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER CONDITIONS SATURDAY AFTERNOON...

.Today, winds from the northwest gusting around 25-35 are
expected in the late morning and early afternoon across the
region. Areas in the Warning will see 25-30 MPH gusts continue
until around sunset as RH values drop into the low teens. Areas
outside of the Warning will see winds weaken to around 15-20 MPH
in the afternoon, when RH values reach critical levels.

The National Weather Service in Goodland has issued a Red Flag
Warning for wind and low relative humidity, which is in effect
from 1 PM MDT /2 PM CDT/ this afternoon to 7 PM MDT /8 PM CDT/
this evening.

* AFFECTED AREA...Fire Weather Zones 001 Cheyenne KS, 002
Rawlins, 003 Decatur, 004 Norton, 016 Graham, 079 Dundy, 080
Hitchcock, 081 Red Willow and 252 Yuma.

* TIMING...From 1 PM MDT /2 PM CDT/ this afternoon to 7 PM MDT
/8 PM CDT/ this evening.

* WINDS...Northwest 15 to 20 mph with gusts up to 35 mph.

* RELATIVE HUMIDITY...Around 12 percent.

* IMPACTS...Unpredictable fire behavior. Any fires that develop
may rapidly grow and spread out of control.

Recommendations

Comply with burn bans and regulations. Avoid driving on dry grass
or brush. Maintain vehicle brakes and tires and secure tow chains
to avoid dragging. Never toss lit cigarettes onto the ground.
