Conditions are favourable for the development of severe thunderstorms that may be capable of producing strong wind gusts, large hail and heavy rain.

What:
Damaging wind gusts up to 90 km/h
Hail up to toonie size
Torrential downpours with local rain amounts in excess of 50 millimetres possible
There is a risk of a tornado this evening

When:
Late this afternoon until late this evening.

Discussion:
Strong thunderstorms may develop over Minnesota late this afternoon and may move northward to northeastward into the regions into this evening.

Driving conditions may be difficult.

Be prepared for severe weather. If threatening weather approaches, take cover in a basement or interior room. If outside, protect yourself from flying debris and hail. When thunder roars, go indoors! Lightning kills and injures Canadians every year.

Emergency Management Ontario recommends that you take cover immediately if threatening weather approaches.

Heavy rain can cause flash flooding and significant reductions to visibility.
